Charaka Mahila Vividhoddesha Kaigarika Sahakara Sangha Ni. at Shramajeevi Ashrama hosted for 2 days on 1st july and 2nd july 2024, a sustainable accessories making workshop with the participation of 10 embroiderers. The workshop aimed to address the issue of accessory waste ending up in landfills, which is often not properly recycled. Using waste fabrics from Charaka’s garment cutting, participants, under the guidance of Varsha MN, a Master of Social Design student at NIFT Kangra, focused on creating new accessories. Varsha’s research highlights the social issues surrounding accessory waste in landfills. By the end of the workshop, attendees successfully crafted embroidered hair clips and bows from the upcycled materials.
